Brandon with his personal best trophy brown at 16 lbs 10 oz. Summer of 2008

Not long ago, I received an email from Mrs. Betty Dews. She is the mother of Oregon’s top brown trout producer this year, Brandon Lane. She informed me that Brandon had a birthday coming and wondered if I would help in honoring him and his fishing accomplishments for his special day. I have been thrilled to receive photos from Brandon and his dad (state record holder, Ron Lane) this year as they have lit up the west coast brown trout scene with phenomenal catches of big browns all season long. Of course, I jumped right on board and this page is the result.

Brandon has had the privilege to grow up under the wing of a brown trout master and all of his cohorts in the sport. These guys are old school going back 40+ years and they have obviously picked up many tricks along the way. About as close as anyone can get to unlocking the secrets to catching big browns with consistency.  As the photos might depict, Brandon has had the bug since he could walk and talk. After all these years, he has broken through in a huge way this year with 5 browns in the past 4 months between 10 ¾ and 16 1/2 + pounds! He is currently one pound up on his dad who also has 5 over 11 pounds in the same time. Just a week ago, they took a buddy fishing and he got into the biggest brown to come out of Oregon so far this year at 21 pounds! Somebody’s doing somethin’ right….

Here's a chronological photo archive of just a few of Brandon's trophy trout memories.

Happy Birthday Brandon!!!
